To all katycats who do not like or find EVERYTHING from Witness a “disgrace”, read this text.
Do you have any idea of the monstrous album that we have in our hands but we can not take advantage of it? Do you have any idea how wonderful this album is? Do you have any idea how much katy thought to play sharp truths on this album?
Witness is to provoke. It’s to cause discomfort, it’s really to provoke. Katy asks soon in the first track if you could be her witness, because she would speak MUCH thing.
The truth is that on this album, there is no Katy Perry. It’s Katy Hudson there pure, speaking all her truths, wants and interests. The whole album recounts Katy’s journey to break free, until she arrives in Into Me You See, where she finally breaks free from all that holds her to being who she is, and so she had created that character with blue hair.
Guys, seriously. The tracks are not “only” for dancing. ALL of them have concept. Even Swish Swish, which has a lot of metaphor. “A tiger does not need the opinions of a crustacean (shellfish) or a sheep.” It means inequality. Crustaceans have nothing to do with sheep that have nothing to do with tigers. This means that, however Katy may be fragile at times, she will never let people of different nations try to overthrow her.
Power and Tsunami are my favorite because they are the most risky and fixed songs on the album, but for me, it’s all AMAZING. Of course, there may be people with different tastes, I respect your opinion, but to say that witness is a “junk”, you have no idea what they are talking about.
Look at the lightness of Tsunami. Have you ever seen any Katy tracks like her? Look at Power, with that aggressiveness. Have you seen Katy like this?
The truth (again) is that Witness hides many things behind the letters we need to interpret. Behind simple letters like “my love is a bullet with your name written on it” there are MANY messages. It’s an album difficult to understand. It’s a book, people. We all need to seriously study the whole story of the witness before we say it is a “sewer.”
The critique gave a middle note to Witness, because, like so many of us, they could not REALLY understand the concept of the album.
Katy already said “can you really see me?” They have not seen and heard enough.
It is for this and others, that Witness is my favorite album of Katy, I love it, and I will defend it.
I AM A WITNESS, FUCK!
And you?
